In November, residents will vote on a 20 year bond proposal. The ballot asks if the City of Troy shall borrow $137 million, to be paid back over 20 years, to build a new library, improve local roads, invest in parks and recreation amenities, and support public safety. If passed, your property taxes will go up, based on the assessed value of your home.

Libraries are an important part of our community, and ours is old and badly in need of repairs. I support a ‘yes’ vote on the bond proposal, but I acknowledge that we each get one vote, and the will of the voters will determine what happens with the library. As a council member, I pledge to work with the library staff to address these issues no matter which way the voters decide on the bond.

Our police and public safety officers are there to “protect and serve”. I am a strong supporter of our police, first responders and firefighters. Respect!

Taxes are a fact of life, but we trust our elected officials to spend our hard-earned money wisely. I promise to take my role on council seriously and protect our citizens from wasteful spending at the local level.

Troy is a great place to live for both young and old alike. As a retired person myself, I support programs that benefit seniors, and look to expand the city’s offerings for our “seasoned citizens”.
